Vineland Wal-Mart Opens / Super Center on Landis Avenue Crowded with First-Day Shoppers

Wal-Mart opened its massive new Vineland store to a good deal of fanfare Wednesday. Shoppers packed the Wal-Mart Super center on Landis Avenue a few hours after its early morning opening, with the heavy traffic beginning in the early afternoon and clogging some parts of the store with shopping-cart traffic jams.

The opening was not without its controversy, however.

Union members of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 152 protested the store's opening during the morning hours, holding signs criticizing the retail chain's reliance on imports from China and allegedly substandard salaries and benefits.
