The UFCW Women's Network

The primary purpose of the UFCW Women's Network is to unify UFCW women through an international network. Women, who comprise more than 50% of the UFCW's members, represent a powerful resource for the union. The Network believes that active participation of women members in the UFCW will enhance our union's strength at the bargaining table, in organizing campaigns and in the political arena. The Network, in cooperation with the International Union and the Working Women's Department, seeks to motivate and educate UFCW women to increase women's participation in UFCW activities and programs. The Network invites and encourages the support and participation of our union sisters and brothers in accomplishing these and many other objectives.

If you would like to be part of the network, please contact Edna Inge or Danette Montes-Palmore at: 1-888-JOIN-152, or fill out our application form.

Retirees "Club 56"

Back in 1982, Local 56 President Leon B. Schachter and Local 195 President James O'Malley, were co-chairmen working together to setup a group for those retiring from the Union. They worked in conjunction with John Wilson of the Operating Engineers International Union.

There are educational programs and we act on legislative matters, but most of all it is an opportunity to meet and greet each other as a part of the fraternal organization that is our Union. The Club sponsors trips by plane, cruise ship, and motorcoach. All seniors are invited to join--you do not even have to be a Union member!

Meetings are held the first Monday of each month. Should the first Monday be a holiday, the meeting will be on the second Monday. Meetings are held at the United Methodist Church, 2375 - 48th Street, Pennsauken, NJ 08110. The Church is just a few blocks from the former Benefits Office which was located on Maple Avenue in Pennsauken.
